Lenten Series and Soup Suppers beginning
Wednesday, February 29 at 5:45pm in Tucker Hall
The
wide variety of soups will be served beginning at 5:45pm along with bread,
water and coffee. Attention parents of
young children: New this year will be a
table for King’s Kidz with bread, peanut butter and jelly, chips, fruit and
juice boxes. It is a “make your own
dinner” table set for the children’s enjoyment!
The Lenten Series will begin at 6:30pm. The series this year is entitled 24 Hours
That Changed the World, a book written by Adam Hamilton. No single event in human history has received
more attention than the suffering and crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth. In the DVD series which we will be viewing,
we will travel to the Holy Land with Adam Hamilton to visit the sites where
those earth-shaking events took place.
We will walk where Jesus walked and see what he may have seen, along the
road that led to the pain and triumph of the cross. Father Stockton will be the discussion leader
beginning Wednesday, February 29 through Wednesday, March 14. At that point, Betty Mosty will step in and
be the discussion leader for Wednesday, March 21 and 28. Each Wednesday evening is sure to be informative
as well as moving!!! Please join us…
Attention KING’S KIDZ…
SHOUT HOSANNA TO THE KING!!!
A Lenten Series for children through 4th grade continues during Lent on Wednesdays at 6:30pm in the Youth Room in Shelton Hall.
5 weeks of fun interactive time together… Come see how it might have been to live in Jerusalem during that last week of the life of Jesus on Earth! We will create clay sculptures, practice foot washing just like Jesus taught the disciples, prepare a simple Passover Meal, prepare other fun snacks together, work with wood, create spring art collages, plant a mini garden to watch plants grow and come to life, sing new songs, play Bible dress up and act out fun dramatic Bible scenes. This is an idea of some of the many activities and learning centers we will create for the children to explore leading up to the preparations for our Triumphant Entry on Palm Sunday followed by a Glorious Easter Celebration!

Or would you like a “refresher course?” Either way, come join the Spring Inquirer’s Class, taught by the Rector, beginning immediately following the Wednesday-night dinner, at 6:30pm, on Wednesday, January 18, 2012.
We will meet in the Multi-purpose Room of Tucker Hall for an hour, that evening and on most Wednesday evenings through February 29. We also will offer childcare.
Our Suffragan Bishop, David Reed, comes to visit us on the Second Sunday in Lent, March 4, and you will have the opportunity at that time to be received/confirmed into the Episcopal Church, or to reaffirm your baptismal vows.
But this is a soft-sell class! We will not make you appear before the bishop (though he’s very nice) if you only want some more information, or a review of what you already know. Over the course of the weeks, we will see a video; go into the church to look at symbols, architecture, and the service; and consider the Prayer Book, Bible, Sacraments, and Church History.
You do not need to sign up in advance. Just show up on January 18th. Call the Rector at 257-8162 if you have any questions about the class.

…
Sunday School offerings for children and youth include:
*2 and 3 year old - Children's Center with Barbara Davila and Michelle Tapscott
*4, 5, and 6 year old - Shelton 3 with Lisa Earl, Katy Mosty and Erin Wofford
*7, 8, 9 and 10 year old - Shelton 2 with Laurie Blewett, Julie Murray and Jennifer Deering
*Middle and High School - Youth Room with Father Stockton and Traci Hale
The curriculum will be the same for all ages - Living the Good News which is lectionary based. This allows a great deal of flexibility with the classes. Also, families can discuss Sunday school with their children as a whole…
Barbara Cordova has volunteered along with her son, Marc, to rotate through the children's classrooms to teach them a song or two so the children can sing at the 9:10 am offertory every 4-6 weeks. Isn't that wonderful?!!!
Adult Sunday School offerings include:
*Father Tom’s Class – Tucker Hall. The class will study the Book of James.
*Spiritual Formal Class– Church Library. Facilitated by Jan Lundy.
*New and Review Class– Church Conference Room upstairs. Facilitated by Dane Tune. |
